Eneco is a company of Dutch origin that entered the Belgian energy market in 2003, more precisely in Flanders and in Wallonia, as it is not present in Brussels. At that time, it only offered services to professionals. It was not until several years later, in 2011, that it created products for private individuals.
But the company is not content just to distribute energy. Indeed, it also produces it. Its niche: the local production ofgreen electricity. Through this activity, it intends to reconcile renewable energy with affordable prices for everyone, which seems to entice consumers since over time, Eneco has become a leading Belgian energy supplier.
As proof, in Flanders the company was ranked in the first quarter of 2017 in 5th position behind Engie Electrabel, Luminus, Eni and Essent.be. Since July 2017, it has also established itself in the sector by becoming the owner of Eni Belgium. Thanks to this acquisition, it now has more than 1.1 million residential connections and has climbed to third place on the podium of the biggest suppliers of electricity and gas.
Its goal, however, is not only to record steady and sustained growth. Eneco hopes above all to become the most sustainable energy supplier in the country with 100% green electricity produced in Belgium. To do so, the company is continuing to invest in sustainable projects and develop its wind and solar parks. In August 2017, it had 89 wind turbines and more than 260,000 photovoltaic panels on our territory.
In the Greenpeace ranking of Belgian electricity suppliers, Eneco’s sustainable policy is patent. The NGO has in fact awarded the company a score of 16/20 and recommends it to consumers who share green concerns. Why? Because, in addition to its investments only in 100% green energy, Eneco “dares to adopt a clear public position in favour of renewable energy and against nuclear power”. This attitude is rewarded by the association because the values of this electricity supplier in Belgium can be seen in its communication, but also on the ground, “which is relatively new in the energy landscape”.
Eneco assures this: everything is implemented to provide clear, effective and honest customer service. A promise that clearly encourages consumers to switch energy supplier and join it.
In practice, the company can be reached on weekdays between 8 am and 6 pm and in several ways:
This service, reserved for Eneco customers, consists of an online space to manage your energy contract. For example, it is possible to view your bills, change the amount of your monthly instalments, update your personal data and make energy arrangements associated with moving house.
When all employees are busy, the company also allows Internet users to find answers to their queries by consulting FAQs.
Concerning billing, each customer can choose to receive their bills by e-mail or by regular mail, though the supplier encourages the former. There are two means of payment available, too: direct debit and bank transfer.
For its energy contracts, Eneco has decided to keep things simple. The supplier offers a single rate card including:
Although the company emphasizes the sustainable and green aspects of its deals, its prices are not to be outdone. Eneco tariffs with promotions often provide the first results on ourenergy price comparison tool. But beware, reductions appear only on comparison tools and not on the Eneco website. This makes it difficult to ascertain, for example, whether the company is the cheapest supplier of gas in Belgium.
For owners of solar panels, Eneco recommends its Solar deal. It’s an attractive product because it applies the night rate for all meters: standard, dual and night-only. This contract is even more interesting if you keep a significant consumption after the installation of solar panels. So, it’s up to you to check if Eneco is the cheapest supplier of electricity for you. Of course, we are here to help you figure it out.
Eneco offers a series of services designed especially for its loyal customers, i.e., those with an electricity contract of at least a year. These benefits are line with the Eneco philosophy. They focus on ecology and collective participation to reduce the carbon footprint. For example there is the Bonus Confort additional services, available in 4 services:
Furthermore, Eneco offers the installation of solar panels and/or the Tesla Powerwall home battery. The idea is that it stocks the energy stored by your solar panels in order to use it later. When it gets dark, for example.
