Vlaamse Energieleverancier is one of the newest energy suppliers on the Belgian market. As its name suggests, it mainly serves the Flemish market, for private individuals and for business customers. This may seem a risky choice, given that there is fierce competition between suppliers in Flanders, but Vlaamse Energieleverancier is not discouraged. And rightly so as it has some powerful arguments, making it an alternative supplier to be reckoned with.
Firstly, it is a supplier that wants to assert its local roots, which is why it proudly advertises the Flemish origins of its green energy. Its energy mix is composed mainly of solar energy and wind energy produced in the north of the country.
Next, Vlaamse Energieleverancier has opted to dispense with an intermediary and limit its marketing activities. As a result, the supplier claims to be able to offer its customers wholesale prices.
But does this strategy mean it can offer the cheapest contracts on the Flemish market? That depends on a number of parameters, including network costs. That is why it’s always advisable to compare your prices before taking out a new energy contract.
Finally, we should also point out that it is part of the GreenFever group, which specialises in developing projects linked to the energy sector. Its founder is none other than Stijn Lenaerts, a well-known entrepreneur in the energy industry who was previously behind the launch of Elegant.
Vlaamse Energieleverancier offers nothing but the essentials in terms of customer service. Given its strategy to keep prices relatively low, it is understandable that the company prefers to confine itself to simple, effective channels.
As a result, the company’s customers can contact it mainly via an online form or directly by email. They can also visit their online customer space to view their bills or the details of their contract. If necessary, they can also amend information or change the frequency or the amount of their adjustment bills.
The VREG (Flemish regulator) provides a telephone number for customers, but it appears that this communication channel is not available to all its customers. In principle, those with a one-year energy contract can only access the customer service department online.
Regarding billing, customers receive their bills via email by default, but it is also possible to receive them by post. Finally, regarding payment methods, here too the standard options are available: bank transfer or direct debit. It is worth noting that the direct debit option is compulsory for the Groen Vast and Groen Variabel products.
At a time when other local, green energy suppliers are relying on a unique product, Vlaamse Energieleverancier clearly intends to address the needs of as many people as possible. That is why the Flemish supplier offers four distinct contracts, which are valid for green electricity and/or gas.
This contract is marketed at a fixed price for a period of one year, thereby offering security to customers who prefer their rate per kilowatt hour to remain stable. It does, however, make certain options compulsory, such as customer service available exclusively online and direct debit as the payment method.
For this one-year contract, Vlaamse Energieleverancier offers gas and electricity at a variable price. This means that the rate will be indexed every three months for electricity, and every month for gas. Customers will therefore be billed at a price that reflects market reality as closely as possible.
This deal also has the same restrictions as the one-year, fixed-rate contract: customer service available exclusively online and compulsory direct debit.
With this contract, you can enjoy fixed rates for three years for gas or electricity. In addition, you can access customer service by telephone, choose whether to receive your correspondence by post, or make your payments by bank transfer if you prefer. However, this convenience is reflected in the prices, which are slightly higher than those of the other deals.
If you prefer a variable rate without burdening yourself with a specific contract, the Groen Gerust contract may be of interest. Your prices for gas and electricity will be indexed every month in order to reflect market reality as far as possible. In addition, you can access customer service by telephone and you can choose whether to receive your bills by post or pay them by bank transfer.
