Trevion, the 100% Belgian green electricity and biogas supplier

Trevion is an energy supplier (gas and electricity) that entered the Belgian market in 2011. It advocates sustainability and proximity, which is why it supplies only green energy produced from production plants situated in Flanders. At the moment, it operates only in the north of the country, serving business customers and private individuals. 

In detail, Trevion is an initiative of Trevi nv, a multidisciplinary Belgian company which has been involved in the environmental sector since 1992 (water, air, soil and energy). Alongside its activities, Trevi also owns a number of subsidiaries and sister companies that specialise in green energy production. This is particularly the case for BiogasTec nv, which generates biogas using leading-edge installations (mainly digesters fitted with cogeneration equipment). These units receive organic waste of all kinds (household and agriculture, waste from abattoirs, unsold supermarket produce, manure, etc.), which is then fermented in these facilities. 

It is mainly thanks to the Trevi ecosystem and the BiogasTec production that Trevion is able to supply 100% renewable, locally-produced electricity. This makes it a particularly active supplier in energy transition. The organisation Greenpeace has also made a point of acknowledging its involvement by recommending it in its greenest supplier ranking.

Lastly, it is worth noting that Trevion’s activities are not limited to energy production and supply since the company also helps its customers engage in environmental action. 

Customer service covering the essentials

Trevion does not bother with unnecessary services, preferring instead to concentrate on the essentials. So, in the event of a problem, its customers can contact the customer service department via the normal channels: telephone, email or post.

Regarding payment, here too Trevion favours the most common options, namely bank transfer and direct debit.

A simple, clear, gas and electricity deal

As previously mentioned, the green electricity offered by Trevion is produced exclusively in Flanders. In addition, the supplier prides itself on offering “fair, transparent” prices. With this in mind, it has simplified its products as much as possible and offers only two deals for individuals:

• Groene energie van hier “vast”: fixed-rate green electricity, with a contract period of 1 or 3 years depending on the customer’s preference.
• Aardgas “variabel”: variable-rate natural gas, which means it is indexed every three months. This is a 1-year contract.

Note that, for its business customers, Trevion also offers variable-rate green electricity.

Trevion is unquestionably one of the greenest suppliers in the country, but is it also financially one of the most advantageous? The only way to get a clear answer is to do a price comparison based on your own criteria.
